SUMMER BROOK-JONES ARTIST/ART TEACHER Acrylics, Pastels, Mixed Media, Water Colour, Screen Printing, Air Brush, Silk Painting, Fabric Painting and Dyeing, Pottery, Bush Timber and Recycled Timber Furniture, Assemblage, Fabric Sculpture (powertex). Welcome to my website. I am a multi media artist and art teacher. For several years I taught art through Mt Isa TAFE in remote communities of the Gulf of Carpentaria in far north west Queensland. As the only art teacher for the western third of Queensland, I covered a very large area. This would involve loading up the four wheel drive with my equipment and heading out into the bush. When I taught at Burketown and Doomadgee I would stay at the caravan park in Burketown and commute to Doomadgee three days a week, a round trip of 200 kls on dirt roads, and teach in Burketown two nights a week as well, for six weeks. It was a great experience, the highlight was being adopted by one of the tribes in Doomadgee, now I have a large extended family. My main areas of work are acrylic, multi media painting, pastels, assemblage, pottery, silk and fabric painting, screen printing, air brush, metal sculpture, furniture from recycled and bush timber and textile sculpture using Powertex. Being an outback person, my work is mainly about the bush, its vibrant colours, people and animals. I love teaching and am available for workshops.
